GUIDELINES FOR SWEATERS

Materials: Use sport, worsted weight, or baby yarn. (Do not use wool or wool blends)

Size: We can use both newborn and preemie sizes. Preemie sweaters should fit at least a 5 pound infant.

You can use any knit/crochet pattern for a sweater. Please use "baby friendly" colors. Make sure sweaters have appropriate closure so that it can provide adequate warmth. Many patterns use ribbons, but you can try using a crochet chain instead. Ties should not be longer than 8 inches and secured at the back so that they don't pose a choking risk. Buttons can also be used.

If you make a sweater set or a hat/bootie set, make sure all items in the set are the same size. (Ex: newborn sweater with a newborn hat)

Finished sweaters need to be washed before being turned in. Do not use fabric softener in the dryer when drying them. Check for loose strands of yarn that need to be woven in.
