GUIDELINES FOR HANDSTITCHED (JOSHUA) BOOTIES

Materials: Joshua booties are made from fleece scraps. Use crochet thread to stitch bootie together. Use 1/8" wide ribbon or crochet chain for ties.

Size: The sole of the bootie should be at least 3" long.

We have a bootie pattern that we you can use. If you want the pattern, please ask your Work Group Coordinator or email us at info@touchinglittlelives.org to have the pattern sent to you. Also, we have volunteers who "precut" booties for other people to stitch, so we can provide volunteers with ones ready to assemble. If you cut your own, the sides and sole of the bootie should be cut so that the stretch of the fabric goes side to side.

Use crochet thread to stitch booties together using the blanket stitch. Booties can be secured around the ankle with a ribbon or crochet/knit tie, but make sure the tie is attached firmly to the bootie to prevent a choking hazard.

Finished booties need to be washed before being turned in. Do not use fabric softener in the dryer when drying them. It is better to wash the booties before adding the ribbon or tie or they will get tangled together in the wash.

Please tie your booties together or put one inside the other. This will prevent the booties from getting separated before they are packed in a delivery. Don't use safety pins to fasten them together.
